Abstract

While new trainsets are being built, Boston-New Haven electrification and related track improvements are creating the context for 150-mph passenger service in the Northeast Corridor. This massive effort underway between Boston and New Haven is truly significant for passenger railroading in this country: the project should set the pace for similar improvements elsewhere, it should serve as a model for incremental rail-line upgrading to reduce travel times in other national rail corridors.
