Information we collect

ScholarLens may collect information needed to provide the service: OpenAlex paper metadata requested by visitors; account information such as an email address when you sign in; papers, tags, and notes you save in your library; selected text and related request information when you use the reading assistant; and technical or usage information provided through analytics, cookies, and server logs.

Accounts and saved content

Authentication is provided through Supabase. Your email address is used to support sign-in and account-related communication. Saved papers, tags, and notes are stored to provide the library feature. Do not save content you do not have the right to store.

Analytics and cookies

ScholarLens uses Google Analytics 4 to understand aggregate visits and feature usage. Google Analytics may use cookies or similar technologies. The site also uses a local storage preference for the cookie notice. Cookies and similar technologies may not be available or may be controlled by your browser.

Google AdSense and advertising

ScholarLens uses Google AdSense and third-party advertising vendors to display ads in designated areas of the site. Google and its partners may use advertising cookies or similar technologies to measure ads, limit repetition, and, where permitted by your choices and applicable law, show personalized advertising based on browsing activity. ScholarLens does not sell your personal information or build its own advertising profile.

You can manage or opt out of personalized advertising through Google's Ads Settings. You can also manage cookies through your browser settings and use available industry opt-out controls. Blocking cookies may affect some site functionality or advertising preferences.

External links

Paper pages can link to OpenAlex, publishers, repositories, and other external sites. Their privacy practices are controlled by those sites, not ScholarLens. Review their policies before submitting information.

Retention and deletion requests

We retain account and saved library information while it is needed to provide the requested features or comply with applicable obligations. Analytics, advertising, and external providers may retain information under their own policies. To request access, correction, or deletion of account information or saved content, contact us through the Contact page. We may need to verify a request and may retain limited information where required for security or legal reasons.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures appropriate to the service, but no online service can guarantee absolute security. Protect your account credentials and contact us promptly about suspected unauthorized access.

Policy updates

We may update this policy when the service, providers, or legal requirements change. The updated version and its date will be posted on this page.
