Abstract
A literature study was done into determinants of the mobility by car use and the consequences for the energy use. In this respect, the problem of mobility was studied from a number of disciplines of which economics, behavioural sciences and environmental structure are the most important ones. In describing the determinants, a distinction was made into their influence on vehicle ownership, car use and driving behaviour.
