Efficacy and safety of valproate combined with olanzapine in the treatment of bipolar type I affective disorder

Objective To evaluate the efficacy and safety of sodium valproate combined with olanzapine in the treatment of bipolar disorder(I). Methods Methods 160 adult patients with type Ⅰ affective disorder in our hospital were divided into observation group and control group,Each 80 cases.The control group was treated with sodium valproate alone,The observation group was treated with sodium valproate combined with olanzapine,The clinical efficacy was assessed by Hamilton Depression Rating Scale(HAMD),Mania Rating Scale and side effects scale. Results After treatment,the observation group of patients with moderate depression and the number of patients with severe depression,moderate and severe manic patients were significantly lower than that of control group,the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05); side effects scale determination,side effects of the observation group was 5% compared with 15% in the control group,the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05). Conclusion The curative effect of sodium valproate combined with olanzapine in bipolar I disorder,the incidence of adverse reactions and safety and high,it is worthy of clinical application.
