Protective effect of Danhong Injection on renal function in patients with diabetic nephropathy

Abstract

Objective To investigate the protective mechanism of Danhong Injection on renal function in patients with diabetic nephropathy (DN). Methods 160 cases of DN admitted to our hospital from September, 2014 to September, 2017 were selected. According to the random number table method, they were divided into a control group and an an observation group, 80 cases for each group. The control group were conventionally controlled blood pressure, glucose, and lipid; in addition, the observation group took Danhong Injection. Both groups were treated for 4 weeks. The effects of the two groups were compared; and the serum levels of interleukin -2 (IL-2), soluble interleukin -2 receptor (sIL-2R), tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α), serum creatinine (Cr), urea nitrogen (BUN), and nitric oxide (NO) were measured before and after the treatment. The changes in hemorheology was analyzed. The urine protein quantitation (24hUTP) level was measured by urine sampling. Results The total effective rate was 93.75% in the observation group, and was 82.50% in the control group, with a statistical difference (P 0.05). Conclusion Danhong Injection may protect the kidneys alleviating the inflammatory reaction of DN patients and improving the kidneys' high blood viscosity and hypercoagulability.
