Clinical observation of phacoemulsification under topical anesthesia for high myopia with nuclear cataract

Objective To evaluate the effect of phacoemulsification under topical anesthesia for myopia with nuclear cataract.Methods 78 cases (78 eyes) of high myopia with nuclear cataract underwent phacoemulsification and intraocular lens(IOL) implantation.The anesthetic satisfaction,intraoperative and postoperative complications were observed.Results All patients didn' t feel painful during surgery.There was no sever complications during or after operation.Postoperative visual acuity beyond 0.5 were 46 cases (46 eyes,58.97％ ) at 1 day after operation and 58 cases (58 eyes,74.35％ ) at 1 week after operation.Conclusion Phacoemulsification with intraocular lens implantation is an ideal procedure for high myopia with nuclear cataract.
