Abstract

Objective To explore the clinical significance and expression of matrix metalloproteinase (MMP)-2 and E-cadherin in bladder transitional cell carcinoma. Methods Immunohistochemistry was used to detect the expression of MMP-2 and E-cadherin in 48 cases of bladder transitional cell carcinoma, and the relationship between their expression and clinicopathological features was analyzed. Results The expression of MMP-2 and E-cadherin had a negative correlation (P < 0.05),and the positive expression rate was 75.0% and 47.9% respectively.MMP-2 and E-cadherin were related to tumor pathological grade and clinical stage. Conclusion Detection of MMP-2 and E-cadherin can help determine the invasion and metastasis ability of bladder transitional cell carcinoma. Key words: Bladder transitional cell carcinoma;  Matrix metalloproteinase-2 ;  E-cadherin ; Immunohistochemistry
