Comparision of Mitomycin-C and amniotic membrane transpiration in treatment of pterygium

Abstract

Objective To compare the therapeutic effect of primary pterygium treaed by MitomycinC and amniotic membrane transplantation in the surgery.Methods 66 cases (72 eyes) were randomly divided into mitomycin-C group (MMC group,36eyes) and amniotic transplantation group (AMT group,36eyes).Results Two eyes recurrence were noted in MMC group,the recurrence rate was 5.56％.One eye recurrence was noted in AMT group,the recurrence rate was 2.50％.The differences were not statistical significant between two groups (P ＞ 0.05).Conclusion Mitomycin-C and amniotic transplantation in primary ptergium treatment can decrease the recurrent rate.
