Effects of Xuebijing injection combined with prednisone on idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis

Obiective To observe the effect of Xuebijing injection and prednisone on the patients with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF).Methods 36 patients with IPF were randomly divided into control group (18 patients) and combination group (18 patients).All patients were treated with prednisone,besides the combination group was added with Xuebijing injection for seven days.Clinical manifestations and pulmonary function were observed.Results The lung function parameters of the two groups were indifferent before therapy.After therapy,the clinical improvement rate in combination group (77.78％) was higher than that in control group (55.56％,P ＜ 0.05).Compared with pre-therapy (61.08％ ± 19.11％,66.38％ ± 18.64％,and 51.33％ ± 20.61％),VC％ pred (76.92％ ± 20.33％),TLC％ pred (83.89 ％ ± 21.39 ％),and DLCO％ pred (74.58％ ± 21.12 ％) improved after therapy in combination group (P ＜0.05).The improvement in combination group was more effective than that in control group (73.24％ ± 20.19％,72.29％ ± 19.78％,71.66％ ± 21.01％) (P ＜0.05).Conclusions Compared with prednisone treatment only,there is obvious therapeutic effect with Xuebijing injection and prednisone in IPF.
