Comparison of the intraocular pressure value measured with Goldmann applanation tonometer and non-contact tonometer

Abstract

ObJective To compare the difference of Goldmann applanation tonometer (GAT) and non-contact tonometer (NCT) in IOP measurement,and to observe the change of IOP influenced by center corneal thickness (CCT).Methods Central corneal thickness,IOP measured by NCT and Goldmann applanation tonometer were measured on total of 91 eyes of 80 cases.Result There was significant difference between IOP measured by NCT and IOP by Goldmann applanation tonometer (F =69,600,P <0.01),the IOP measured by NCT was higher than GAT,the relative data r1=0.742 (P <0.05) and r2=0.663 (P <0.05),so the influence of CCT on NCT was larger than GAT.Conclusions There are differences between IOP measured by NCT and IOP by Goldmann aplanation tonometer.IOP measured by NCT is higher than which measured by Goldmann aplanantion tonometer.Both of the two tonometers are influenced by the CCT,and it is larger with the increasing of the CCT.The influence of CCT on the measurements of intraocular pressure with NCT is higher than Golamann aplanation tonometer.
