Abstract

Objective To evaluate the efficacy of aerosol inhalation of budesonide combined with doxofylline on chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) at acute exacerbation stage. Methods A total of 158 patients at acute exacerbation stage of COPD were selected and divided into aerosol inhalation of budesonide combined with doxofylline treatment group (treatment group, n=79) and budesonide alone group (control group, n=79) according to the random number table method. All patients received allopathic supportive treatment and budesonide inhalation treatment, and the treatment group was given doxofylline additionally. The partial pressure of carbon dioxide (PaCO2), pH, partial pressure of oxygen(PaO2) and oxygen saturation (SaO2) in the two groups were recorded and compared before and after treatment; one second forced expiratory volume (FEV1), the percentage of predicted value of FEV1 (FEV1%), FEV1 percentage of forced vital capacity(FEV1/FVC) and maximum expiratory flow (PEF) of the two groups were detected and compared; the clinical efficacy of the two groups was compared. Results After treatment, the SaO2, PaO2 of two groups were gradually improved, and PaCO2 gradually reduced, all of which were superior to those before treatment (P<0.05), and the indexes in treatment group were superior to those in control group (P<0.05). After treatment, the FEV1, FEV1/FVC, FEV1 and PEF of two groups were improved gradually, all of which were superior to those before treatment (P<0.05), and the indexes in treatment group were superior to those in control group (P<0.05). The total effective rate of treatment group (92.4%) was higher than that of the control group(83.5%), but the difference was not statistically significant (χ2=2.931, P=0.087). Conclusions Aerosol inhalation of budesonide combined with doxofylline in the treatment of patients at acute exacerbation stage of COPD, can improve the treatment effect, relieve decline of pulmonary function, prevent disease progression and improve clinical symptoms, which is more safety and is worthy of clinical application.
