Abstract
Objective To investigate the effect of the 3 mm small incision phacoemulsification combined with trabeculectomy on patient with cataract and glaucoma. Methods Forty-one patients(52 eyes) were performed trabecutectomy combined with phacoemulsification, and implantation of a flexible intraocular len.The follow-up period averaged 6-36 months. Results The preoperative intraocular pressure(IOP) was 15.28-48.17 mm Hg(1 mm Hg =0.133 kPa) which decreased to postoperative IOP of 9.10-17.55 mm Hg.Thirty-eight of 52 eyes(73.1%) had a best-corrected visual acuity of >0.3.Conclusions Small incision phacoemulsification combined with trabeculectomy is effective for improving the visual acuity and reducing intraocular pressure in patients with cataract and glaucoma. Key words: Cataract; Phacoemulsification; Glaucoma; Trabecutectomy
