Abstract
Objective To investigate the correlations of Pokemon, E-caderin and CD44v6 expression with the ultrasonic appearance in breast carcinoma. Methods All sixty breast carcinoma samples included both breast carcinoma and surrounding non-tumour breast tissues. Expression of Pokemon, E-caderin and CD44v6 were examined using immunohistochemistry technique. The results were compared with the ultrasonic features of breast carcinoma. Results The frequency of Pokemon protein expression was 31.7% for morphological normal breast tissue and 75.0% for breast cancer. The frequency of E-caderin protein expression was 100.0% for morphological normal breast tissue and 55.0% for breast cancer. The frequency of CD44v6 protein expression was 5.0% for morphological normal breast tissue and 60.0% for breast cancer. Pokemon, E-cadherin and CD44v6 protein expression correlated with breast cancer invasion and metastasis in ultrasonography. Conclusion Expression of Pokemon, E-caderin and CD44v6 may play some roles in occurrence of breast carcinoma and be pertinent to deterioration of breast carcinoma. Key words: Pokemon; E-cadherin; CD44v6; Ultrasonography; Breast carcinoma
