Abstract

Objective To investigate the expression of molecule adhesion CD 44 in breast cancer and its clinical significance. Methods The expression of CD 44 were assayed by means of reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction(RT PCR)technique in 30 breast carcinomas and 10 benign breast tumor tissues. Results ①The expression of CD 44 V 6 in breast cancer was significantly higher than that in benign breast tumor.②The positive rate of CD 44 V 6 expression was significantly higher than that of CD 44 S,CD 44 V 3 in breast cancer.③Ⅲ-Ⅳ stages of breast cancer showed strong expressions of CD 44 V 6 than Ⅰ-Ⅱ stages of breast cancer.④CD 44 V 6 expression with lymph node metastasis was much higher than that without lymph node metastasis. Conclusions The expression of CD 44 V 6 is correlated with the process of invasion and metastasis in breast cancer, and might be a useful marker of breast cancer metastatic potential and the prognosis of the patients with breast cancer.
