A retrospective study on effects of two different urinary diversions after radical cystectomy

Objectives To compare the clinical effects between orthotropic ileal neobladder substitute and iledl conduit urinary diversion.Methods Retrospective analysis of the clinical data of 67 cases with transitional cell carcinoma of bladder after radical cystectomy from January2008 to June2012 in our hospital between group A underwent the construction of an orthotopic ileal neobladder and group B underwent Bricker procedure.The parameters associated with the general conditions,intraoperative blood loss,operation time,hospitalization days,early and late complications were compared between the two groups.Results Bricker procedure groups in the operation time,intraoperative blood loss,hospitalization days are better than those of orthotopic ileal neobladder groups.And no signif-icantdifferences in other aspects.Conclusions The two groups have the same tumor control effect.Orthotopic ileal neobladder is more complicated,more operation time and more intraoperative blood loss compared with Bricker procedure,but it can offers patients with self-control urination.To improve the quality of life of the patients,orthotropic ileal neobladder substitute is a predominant technique for the treatment of urinary diversions after radical cystectomy.
