Abstract
Objective To compare the clinical effects and surgical complications between Ileal conduit urinary diversion and orthotropic ileal neobladder substitute. Methods A retrospective review was done on 50 patients with transitional cell carcinoma of bladder after radical cystectomy from 2009 to 2012.26 cases in group A underwent Bricker procedure and 24 cases in group B underwent the construction of an orthotopic ileal neobladder. The parameters associated with the general conditions, the surgical procedures(amount of bleeding during operation, operative time, the hospital stay),early and late complications were compared between the two groups. Results The difference in the amount of bleeding during operation[(962.50±97.21)ml vs(876.33±94.19)ml],the time of operation [(338.62±28.02)min vs(267.13±31.86)min],length of stay[(36.62±4.27)d vs(33.79±3.67)d] between two groups were significant(P0.05).There was no difference in the incidence of complications. Conclusion Bricker procedure and the construction of an orthotopic ileal neobladder are both common urinary diversion methods after the radical cystectomy;their advantages and disadvantages should be considered according to the individual condition of the patient,so as to improve the quality of life of most patients.
