Different surgical methods for glaucoma complicating cataract

Abstract

Objective To compare the clinical effects of different surgical methods for glaucoma complicating cataract. Methods 78 patients with glaucoma complicating cataract treated from October 2015 to October 2017 were randomly divided into a control group and an experimental group, 39 for each group. The control group were treated with small incision extracapsular extraction, trabeculectomy, and IOL implantation, and the experimental group with phacoemulsification, trabeculectomy, and intraocular lens implantation. The average intraocular pressure, visual acuity, and incidence of complications in both groups were analyzed. Results The average intraocular pressure, visual acuity, and incidence of complications were better in the experimental group than in the control group, with statistical differences (all P<0.05). Conclusion Phacoemulsification, trabeculectomy, and intraocular lens implantation for glaucoma complicating cataract is effective.
