Abstract
Objective To investigate the changes in serum pepsinogens (PG I, PG I/PG II) , carcino-embryonic antigen (CEA) and cancen antigen 724 (CA724) , and their diagnostic value in early gastric cancer. Methods Ninety patients with gastric cancer confirmed by gastroscopy and pathological biopsy were randomly selected as gastric cancer group, 90 patients with benign gastric lesions as benign lesion group, and another 90 healthy subjects were enrolled as control group in our hospital between November 2014 and June 2017. The three groups were compared for mean changes in serum levels of pepsinogens, CEA and CA724, and the sensitivity and specificity of diagnosis used alone or in combinations. Results The levels of PG Ⅰ, PG I/PG Ⅱ, CA724 and CEA were significantly different between gastric cancer group, benign gastric disease group and healthy control group (P 0.05) . Conclusion Detection of serum pepsinogens, CEA and CA724 may help early diagnosis of gastric cancer when used either alone or in combinations. Combined detection of these indices may lead to even higher rate of diagnosis for early gastric cancer. Key words: Gastric cancer; Pepsinogen; Tumor markers
