Abstract
Objective To study the effect of Salvia Miltiorrhiza( SM) on learning and memory ability of aging model mice induced by D-galactose.Methods D-galactose was injected 120 mg· kg-1 · d-1 for 42 days to make the aging model mice.15 d after,SM were injec-ted(0.1 ml/d)to the SM group mice for 28 days.Water maze experiment was used to detect the abilities of learning and memory of mice;su-peroxide dismutase ( SOD) ,glutathione peroxidase ( GSH-Px) ,monoamine oxidase ( MAO) activity and malondialdehyde ( MDA) content in serum and brain tissue were checked. Results Compared with that of control group, learning and memory abilities of model group was de-creased;the levels of SOD,GSH-Px activity in serum and hippocampus tissue were decreased while MAO activity and MDA content were in-creased(P<0.05).Injection of salvia miltiorrhiza obviously improved learning and memory abilities compared with those of model group;SOD,GSH-Px activity in serum and hippocampus were increased significantly and MDA content was decreased compared with those of model group(P<0.05),MAO activity in the hippocampus was also decreased(P<0.05).Conclusions Salvia Miltiorrhiza could improve learning and memory abilities of D-galactose induced aging mice through improving SOD,GSH-Px vitality and reducing MAO activity and MDA content in the blood and brain tissue.
