Abstract
Objective To investigate the efficacy of separate montelukast sodium in children with cough variant asthma. Methods Ninty paitients diagnosised of cough variant asthma from 2010 March to 2011 February, randomly divided into two groups(the observation group and the control group). The patients in observation group treated by separate montelukast sodium, and the patients in control group treated by inhaled corticosteroids combined with montelukast sodium. All patients received symptomatic treatment at the same time. Results The efficient was 93.3% in observation group, and it was 97.8% in control group. It showed no significant difference in two groups(P0.05).Number of indicators of lung function, including FEV1,FVC and PEF,significantly improved in two groups after treatment. But there was no significant difference in two groups(P0.05).Conclusion Montelukast for the children with cough variant asthma has positive effect, and there is no obvious side effects, and it is worth of appling.
