Abstract

Objective To discuss the clinical effect of montelukast in the treatment of children with cough variant asthma. Methods 86 patients with cough variant asthma treated in our hospital from December, 2012 to November, 2013 were selected and randomly divided into the control group and the treatment group. The control group was treated with budesonide aerosol and the adjuvant therapy of β agonist bronchodilator, the treatment group was treated with montelukast on the basis of the treatment given to the control group. The clinical effect of two these two groups was compared. Results The total effective rate of the treatment group is 93.02%, significantly higher than 83.72% of the control group, the difference between the two groups was statistically significant(P0.05); compared with the control group, the FVC, FEV1, FEV1/FEVC, PEF improved significantly, the differences between the groups were statistically significant(P0.05). Conclusion Montelukast can effectively treat children with cough variant asthma, relieve the symptoms and improve the quality of life of patients, which is worthy of promotion and application in clinical practice.
