Abstract

Objective To study the monocyte activation in patients with cerebral infarction by detection the levels of serum soluble CD14. Methods The serum sCD14 from patients with cerebral infarction and healthy people were tested by sandwich ELISA assay. Results Compared with normal people, the serum sCD14 level in patients with cerebral infarction increased significantly( P 0.001), and was not related to the situation with or without infection( P =0.001 and 0.011 respectively; In addition, there was no significant correlation between serum sCD14 level and White blood cell count( P =0.17). Conclusion The serum sCD14 level in patients with cerebral infarction increased significantly, which was unrelated with infection. These results suggests the activation of monocytes in the patients with cerebral infarction.
