Abstract

Objective:To investigate the relations between the serum level of interleukin-6(IL-6) and the severity of acute cerebral infarction. Methods:The serum level of IL-6 in 63 patients with acute cerebral infarction and 24 healthy persons was determined. All the patients were scored by clinic neurological function deficit scale(NDS),and comparision was made between the groups. Results:The serum level of IL-6 of the patients was significantly higher than that of the normal control(P0.01),and the serum level of IL-6 of the group with serious cerebral infarction was significantly higher than the groups with middle and mild cerebral infarction(P0.01).Conclusions:The serum level of IL-6 is closely correlated with the severity of cerebral infarction.
