The role of CD5~ + B cells in the pathogenesis of chronic hepatitis B.

Abstract
Objective To study the role of CD5~+ B cells in the pathogenesis of chronic hepatitis B.Methods The percentages of CD5~+ B cell(CD5~+ CD19~+) of peripheral blood in 39 patients with chronic hepatitis B and 18 healthy control were determined by use of immunofluorescence double staining and flow cytometry.In addition,the serum indexes of liver function were also tested in chronic hepatitis B patients.ResultsThe percentages of CD5~+ B cell of peripheral blood were significantly increased in chronic hepatitis B patients as compared with healthy controls;moreover,the percentages of CD5~+ B cell in all subgroups of chronic hepatitis B patients stratified according to the degree of the liver function damage were all higher than those of healthy control group.But there no significant differerences in percentages of CD5~+ B cell among all the subgroups of chronic hepatitis B patients.Conclusion CD5~+ B cell may be involved in the pathogenesis of chronic hepatitis B,but there is no significant correlation with the degree of liver function damage.
