The Effect of Weiyangping Extract on Gastric Ulcer

Objective To investigate the preventive and therapeutic effects of Weiyangping Extract(WYPE) on gastric ulcer of rats and mice induced by different methods,and to exploit its possible mechanism.Methods Drugs were administrated,and then the models of gastric ulcer were established according to traditional methods.The area of ulcer was calculated and the contents of gastric juice,pepsin and the gastric acidity were measured.Results WYPE could not only inhibit the formation of gastric ulcer of rats induced by pylorus ligature and of mice induced by reserpine,but also significantly promote the cure of ulcer induced by acid.Gastric acidity and the concertration of pepsin were decreased.In addition,WYPE could promote gastrointestinal peristalsis,reduce the body torsion induced by acetic acid in mice.Conclusion These results suggest that WYPE has the preventive and therapeutic effects on gastric ulcer.The effect may be related to the reduction of gastric juice,the decrease in gastric acidity and the activities of pepsin,the analgesic action,etc.
