Anti-gastric-ulcer Action of Xiangshao Capsule in Rats

Objective To assess the protective effect of Xiangshao Capsule on gastric ulcer of rats,and to explore its possible therapeutic mechanism.Methods Rats were randomized into 6 groups:control group,Lusaike group,Sanjiuweitai group,Xiangshao capsule groups (low,moderate and high dose respectively).Rat models of gastric ulcer were established with the traditional methods.After modeling and treatment,the spots of ulcer were counted;the volume of gastric acid juice,gastric acidity,pepsin content and activity were determined.Results Xiangshao Capsule inhibited the development of gastric ulcer of rats induced by pyloric ligation,promoted the healing of gastric ulcer induced by acetic acid,decreased the secretion of the gastric juice and the output of total gastric acid and pepsin.Conclusion Xiangshao Capsule has effects in preventing and treating gastric ulcer and the mechanism may be related to the decrease of gastric juice secretion and the output of total gastric juice and pepsin.
