Abstract
OBJECTIVE To evaluate the effectiveness and safety of moxifloxacin in the treatment of stroke-associated pneumonia in the elderly so as to provide safe and effective antibiotics for the treatment of stroke-associated pneumonia.METHODS A total of 63 elderly patients with stroke-associated pneumonia, who enrolled the respiratory medicine department of the hospital from Jan 2008 to Dec 2010,were randomly divided into two groups,33 cases in the treatment group were treated with moxifloxacin, and 30 cases in the control group were treated with ceftazidime. The clinical efficacies and the adverse reactions of the two groups were observed.RESULTS The clinical effective rates of the treatment group and the control group were 87.87% and 73.33%,respectively,and the bacterial clearance rates of the treatment group and the control group were 88.00% and 64.29%,respectively,the differences were statistically significant(P0.05).The incidence of the adverse reactions was 9.09% in the treatment group.CONCLUSION The moxifloxacin can achieve satisfied effect on the treatment of stroke-associated pneumonia, with producing less adverse reactions, which is a kind of safe and effective antibiotics for the treatment of stroke-associated pneumonia in the elderly.
