The action of moxifloxacin in the elderly community-acquired pneumonia

Abstract
Objective To evaluate the effectiveness and safety of moxifloxacin in the elderly community-acquired pneumonia.Methods The patients with elderly community-acquired pneumonia who were in hospital from January 2008 to March 2009 were randomly selected and divided into a treatment group(n=20)and a contrast group(n=20).The treatment group were given moxifloxacin 400 mg intravenous drip qd and the contrast group were given 300 mg of levofloxacin qd.The period of the treatment was two weeks.Clinical effects and adverse reactions were observed.Results The effective rates of the treatment group were 87.50%,the rates of bacterial clearance were 82.75%.The rates of adverse reactions were 12.50%.Conclusion Moxifloxacin in the elderly community-acquired pneumonia has high effective rates and less adverse reactions.
