Expression of Survivin and bcl-2 in Transitional Cell Carcinoma of Bladder

Objective:To study the expression of apoptosis related gene survivin and its relation with expression of bcl-2 protein in transitional cell carcinoma of the bladder(BTCC).Methods:The expression of survivin and bcl-2 was detected by SP immunostaning technique in 43 cases of transitional cell carcinoma of the bladder,and correlation during them was analyzed,and compared with that in 15 cases of normal bladder specimens.Results:In 43 cases of transitional cell carcinoma of the bladder,the positive rate of survivin protein was 67.4%,but in 15 cases of normal bladder specimens,none could be detected the positive expression of survivin protein.Expression of survivin protein was detected in a significantly greater proportion of BTCC than normal bladder specimens.There was relationship between survivin protein expression and tumor grades.Expresson of bcl-2 was negative correlated with expression of survivin protein.Conclusion:Survivin gene may play an important role in pathogenesis of BTCC.
