Expression of Survivin Gene and Its Clinical Implications in Bladder Cancer

Objective:To investigate the expression of survivin protein in bladder cancer and it′s clinical implications.Methods:Expression of survivin protein was detected by western-blot in 50 bladder cancer tissues and in 22 normal mucosa of bladder.Results:The total rate of survivin protein expression in 50 bladder cancer tissues was(81.0%).Survivin protein was not detected in 22 normal mucosa of bladder.The expression rate of survivin protein in infiltrated tumor (96.3%) was significantly higher than that in superficial bladder cancers(65.2%)(P0.01),and the expression rate of survivin protein in relapsed tumors(93.3%)was much higher than that in initial bladder cancers(65.0%)(P0.05).Conclutions:The expression of survivin protein in bladder cancer tissues is mostly higher than it in normal mucosa of bladder,and the expression of survivin protein can serve as an indicator to predict recurrence and infiltration in bladder cancer.
