Diagnosis and treatment of 29 cases of cough variant asthma in children

Objective:To compare the clinical value of Ketotifen and Montelukast in the treatment of cough variant asthma in children.Methods:29 cases of cough variant asthma were divided into Ketotifen group(15 cases) and Montelukast group(14 cases).Ketotifen group were given Ketotifen Fumarate,3 years old 0.5mg/times,≥3 years old 1mg/times,1~2 times/d.Montelukast group were given Montelukast,2~5 years old 4mg,5~15 years old 5mg,1 times/d.The shortest duration of treatment of 1 months,repeatedly made for 6 months to 1 years.Results:After one week of treatment,symptoms were significantly improved or disappeared.Aafter taking Ketotifen,4 patients sleep time extension,returned to normal after continuous medication a week;after taking Procaterol,1 patient had palpitation,relief of symptoms after stopping drug.Conclusion:Montelukast and Ketotifen have similar effects for treatment of cough variant asthma;Ketotifen is cheap,and has the exact effect.
