Clinical Effect of Montelukast and Ketotifen on Cough Variant Asthma in Children

Objective To observe the clinical effect of montelukast and ketotifen on cough variant asthma(CVA) in children for optimizing therapeutics scheme.Methods 80 patients with CVA were divided randomly into treatment group(40cases) and control group(40cases).Montelukast and ketotifen were used in treatment group,while budesonide and ketotifen in control group.Therapeutic and side effect of both groups were observed,and the recurrence rate of CVA was also investigated at the follow-up of 6 months.Results The total effective rate and the recurrence rate in treatment group were significantly superior to that of control group(allP0.05).Conclusion The clinical effect of montelukast and ketotifen on cough variant asthma(CVA)in children was superior to that of budesonide and ketotifen,and the rate of adverse reaction was also lower.Therefore,montelukast and ketotifen is a useful formula for treating CVA of children and worth popularizing.
