Abstract
Isobutyl acetate was synthesized by the esterification of acet ic acid with isobutyl alcohol using chitosan sulface as catalyst. The influences of amount of catalyst and reaction time, reaction temperature were studied and d iscussed. The experimented result indicated that when the amount of catalyst was 0.5g and reaction time was 2h, the motar ratio of acetic acid to isobufyl was 1 :1.20 the yield rate of the product was 94.88% and the catalyst could be used fo r many times.
