Abstract

【Objective】To investigate the expression of osteopontin(OPN) in esophageal adenocarcinoma(EAC)tissue and its clinical significance. 【Methods】OPN expressions in EAC tissues, tumor adjacent tissues and normal esophageal tissues were determined by PT-PCR and immunohistochemistry. The correlation of OPN expression with the clinicopathological characteristics and prognosis of EAC patients was analyzed. 【Results】OPN expressions in EAC tissues were significantly higher than those in tumor adjacent tissues and normal esophageal tissues(P 0.05);OPN expression was correlated with T-status, lymph node metastasis and differentiation grade(P 0.05). The overall survival of EAC patients with high OPN expression was significantly worse than that of patients with low OPN expression(P 0.05). 【Conclusion】High OPN expression in EAC tissue is associated with tumor invasion depth, lymph node metastasis, differentiation grade and disease prognosis, suggesting that OPN may participate in the occurrence and progression of EAC.
