Expression and Clinical Significance of Osteopontin in Patients with Pancreatic Cancer

Abstract

Objective To explore the expression and clinical significance of osteopontin(OPN)in patients with pancreatic cancer.Methods OPN was measured by immunohistochemical SP method in 50 cases with Pancreatic cancer and 30 cases of tumor-adjacent.Results OPN was expressed in 32 of 50 Pancreatic cancer tissues and 6 of 30 tumor-adjacent tissues.The positive rate of OPN in Pancreatic cancer tissue and the adjacent tissue was 64.0%and 20.0% respectively.The positive rate of OPN expression in Pancreatic cancer tissues was significantly higher than that in tumor-adjacent tissues(P0.05).OPN expression was significantly related with tumor differentiation,lymph node metastases and TNM stage.(P0.05).The tumor primary diameter,gender and age were not associated with the positive rate of OPN.Conclusion OPN is highly expressed in Pancreatic cancer tissues,and the expression is closely related to the invasion and metastases of pancreatic cancer.
