Therapeutic Observation on Abdominal Acupuncture for Diabetic Gastroparesis

Objective To observe the clinical efficacy of abdominal acupuncture in treating diabetic gastroparesis.Method Seventy patients with diabetic gastroparesis were randomized into a treatment group and a control group,35 each.The two groups were both given conventional treatment for diabetes.In addition,the treatment group received abdominal acupuncture,and the control group received oral Mosapride.Therapeutic efficacy was evaluated after 1 treatment course;Glycosylated hemoglobin and motilin levels were determined before and after treatment.Result The two groups both had significant changes in general symptom score after treatment(P0.05).After treatment,the treatment group was significantly different from the control group in comparing the general symptom score(P0.05).The two groups both had marked changes in serum motilin level after treatment(P 0.05).After treatment,the treatment group was significantly different from the control group in comparing serum motilin(P 0.05).The treatment group had marked change in serum motilin level after treatment(P0.05).The total effective rate was 91.4%in the treatment group versus 71.4%in the control group,and the difference was statistically significant(P0.05).Conclusion Abdominal acupuncture is an effective approach in treating diabetic gastroparesis,by regulating blood sugar and gastrointestinal hormone levels.
