Abstract
OBJECTIVE:To investigate the effects of Aloe polysaccharide ointment on wound healing of superficial second degree burn in rats.METHODS:Test divided into normal control group, aloe polysaccharide ointment group, matrix group and Jingwanhong group.Superficial second degree burn covering 10% of total body surface area was induced by immersing in 70 ℃ water for 6 second. The condition of burn was confirmed by pathological slice. The wounds were respectively covered with aloe polysaccharide ointment pledget(0.2 g·cm-2),matrix pledget(0.2 g·cm-2),and Jingwanhong pledget(0.2 g·cm-2).The rats were caged separately, and the dressings were changed once a day.The rats wound healing time was observed in those groups.7 rats in each group were sacrificed and the biopsies of wound tissues were taken 12 hours and on 1st,3rd,5th,7th,9th day after burn for the content determination of water, hydroxyproline and NO.Another 7 rats were selected as control.RESULTS:The time of wound healing was(12.1±1.5) d in Aloe polysaccharide ointment group,(15.2±3.2) d in matrix group,and(12.5±1.9) d in Jingwanhong group respectively. The time for wound healing in Aloe polysaccharide ointment group was significantly shorter than that in matrix group(P0.05).The water content in the wound tissue in Aloe polysaccharide ointment group on 1st,3rd,5th day after burn were(76.2±2.3)%,(65.7±3.1)%,(61.2±1.8)%,which was significantly lower than(80.7±2.1)%,(70.8±3.1)%,(66.1±1.8)% of matrix group(P0.05).During 7-9 days after burn, all of them returned to the normal level. The content of hydroxyproline in the wound tissue in Aloe polysaccharide ointment group on 3rd,5th,7th,9th day after burn was higher than that in matrix group and Jingwanhong group(P0.05).The content of water in wound tissue in each group reached the peak value 12 h after burn and then decreased. The content of NO in wound tissue in Aloe polysaccharide ointment group and Jingwanhong group were markedly lower than those in matrix group 12 h and 1 d after burn(P0.05).CONCLUSION:Aloe polysaccharide ointment can accelerate wound healing by decreasing wound tissue NO release, lessening permeability and edema.
