On Unique Nature of Female Ghost Stories in the "San Yan"

Ghost culture is an integral part of Chinese classical culture.Female ghost stories in San Yan developed with new characteristics in the story heroines,plot and narration,etc.compared with its original works.They demonstrate their unique characteristics in heroine's identity,their compliance to tradition and ritual,and their emotional entanglement with heroes compared with those of mystic novels in the Six Dynasties,ghost stories in the Tang Dynasty as well as Strange Tales of a Lonely Studio(Liaozhai Zhiyi,a classic literature work with a collection of about 500 stories by PU Song-ling of the Qing Dynasty).This imposes a great impact upon the development of ancient Chinese novels.
