Abstract

Objective To study the protective effect of propolis on ~(60)Co γ ray irradiation in mice. Methods The mice were divided into 4 groups in radon, including the healthy control, irradiation control and experiment groups. The groups of irradiation control and experiment were exposed to ~(60)Co γ ray,and the groups of experiment were given propolis for 7 days. The tissues and blood were obtained,in which the vitality of SOD and the content of MDA were detected. Results Results showed that propolis was effective in raising the vitality of SOD in the irradiated tissues as high as 25%~36% increase in kidney and spleen tissues.Propolis was also effective in inhibiting the content of MDA as low as 12%~18% decrease in kidney and liver tissues. Conclusions Propolis shows certain antiradiation protective effect on irradiated mice.
