Abstract

Objective To investigate the antiangiogenesis effect of cryptotanshinone on chick embryo chorioallantoic membrane(CAM).Methods Cryptotanshinone loaded with methylcellulose membranes was applied on chick CAM surface of 6-day-old eggs and incubated for 48 hours.Local vessel density was measured under dissection microscope(10×).The inhibitory effects on CAM angiogenesis were evaluated by inhibition rate.Results Cryptotanshinone at 0.1 μg/egg and 0.2 μg/egg dose-dependently decreased the density of local blood vessels,with inhibitory rate of 65% and 72% respectively.The vessels in cryptotanshinonetreated groups were damaged compared with those in the control group.Conclusion Cryptotanshinone significantly inhibits chick CAM angiogenesis.
