Abstract

Objective To investigate the expression of minichromosome maintenance protein 2(MCM2)and its biological characteristic in human laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma(LSCC).Methods Using immunohistochemistry method to detect and identify 60 cases of archived paraffinembedded laryngeal carcinomatous tissues,10 precancerous lesions and 20 benign lesions. Results The results turned out to be as follows:The positive rates of MCM2 in normal laryngeal tissues, vocal cord polyps, precancerous lesions and laryngeal carcinoma were 85.00%,30.00%,10.00%,and 10.00%,respectively.A high level of MCM2 expression was more frequently found in laryngeal carcinoma than that of precancerous lesions and normal tissues. The 3 years survival rates in MCM2 positive cases were lower than those of the negative cases(P0.05).Conclusion MCM2 is a favorable marker for representing proliferation of laryngeal carcinoma cells, and can provide useful information for the occurrence, progression and prognosis of laryngeal carcinoma.
