Abstract

Objective To investigate the expression of Ki67 protein and its biological characteristic in human laryngeal carcinoma. Methods Using immunohistochemistry method to detect and identify 146 cases of archived paraffin embedded laryngeal carcinomatous tissues, 18precancerous lesions and 34 benign lesions. Results The results turned out to be as follows: The positive rate of Ki67 in normal tissues, vocal cords polyps, precancerous lesions and laryngeal carcinoma inclined to increase in positive proportion. A high level of Ki67 expression was more frequently found in laryngeal carcinoma than that of precancerous lesions and normal tissues. The 3 and 5 years survival rates in Ki67 positive cases were lower than those of the negative cases( P 0.01 or 0.05)。Conclusions Ki67 is a favorable marker for representing proliferation of laryngeal carcinoma cells, and can provide useful information for the occurrence, progression and prognosis of laryngeal carcinoma.
