Abstract
Objective To evaluate the value of serum cystatin C for the diagnosis of renal impairment in elderly hypertension patients. Methods 90 elderly essential hypertensive patients, which were divided into three groups by urinary albumin excretion rate(UAER).The data of serum Cystain C,serum creatinine(Scr),blood ureanitrogen(BUN) and GFR were obtained and analyzed. Results The level of Cys C,GFR showed significant differences of three groups(P0.05).The level of Scr,BUN in microalbuminuria group was higher than that in large proteinuria group(P0.05).Univariate analysis implied that Cys C was positively related with Scr and BUN(P0.05).Cys C was negatively correlated with GFR(P 0.05).Conclusion Cyst C should be a sensitive indicator for renal impairment of elderly hypertension patients, especially for early renal impairment.
