Micardis Combined with Hydrochlorothiazide in Treatment of Essential Hypertension:An Observation of Curative Efficacy

Objective To observe the curative efficacy of micardis(telmisartan)plus hydrochlorothiazide for essential hypertension.Methods Seventy-five cases of essential hypertension were randomly divided into treatment group(40 cases)and control group(35 cases).The treatment group was treated with 80mg telmisartan plus 12.5mg hydrochlorothiazide daily for 8 weeks,and the control group was treated with 80mg telmisartan alone daily for 8 weeks.Results The systolic blood pressure(SBP) and diastolic blood pressure(DBP) were improved in both groups after 8-week therapy compared with pre-therapy,and however,the treatment group showed more significant improvement than the control group,with the total effective rate of the treatment group being 95% and that of the control group being 88.5%.There was no significant difference in fasting blood glucose(FBG),triglycerides(TG) and total cholestero(lTC)between the two groups before and after treatment.Conclusion Telmisartan combined with hydrochlorothiazide is effective and safe in the treatment of esential hypertension.
