Abstract

Objective To observe the therapeutic effects of combination of Mecarbinate(Telmisartan)and Hydrochlorothiazide on primary hypertension. Methods Sixty-five patients with mild or moderate primary hypertension were randomly divided into two groups.Patients in the first group(35 persons)were given 80mg of Mecarbinate and 25mg of Hydrochlorothiazide each day,and patients in the second group(30 persons)were given only 80mg Mecarbinate each day.Patient in the two groups were given the treatment for 7 weeks.Results(1)Compared with before treatment, the blood pressure of patients in the two groups descended after treatment, but the therapeutic effect was more significant in the first group than the scend group. The effective rate was 95% in the first group, and 88.5% in the second group. The difference in the effective rate between the two groups was statistically significant.(2) Adverse reactions: the blood sugar,blood-lipids,and uric acid levels of patients had no statistically significant difference between the two groups. Conclusion Combination of Mecarbinate and Hydrochlorothiazide is safe and effective in the treatment of primary hypertension.
