Abstract

The color reaction of nitrobenzothiazolyldiazo aminoazobenzene with zinc was investigated. In the presence of the surface active agent Triton X 100 and in a Na 2B 4O 7 NaOH medium of pH 10.5~12.0,NBTDAA formed a red complex with Zn(Ⅱ).The molar absorptivity of the complex was 1.51×10 5L·mol -1 ·cm -1 at the determination wavelength of 525 nm with a molar ratio of Zn(Ⅱ)to NBTDAA of 1∶4.Beer′s law was well obeyed in the range of 0~10μg/25mL for zinc. This method has been applied to determine trace amounts of zinc in human hair with satisfactory results.
