Abstract
Objective To investigate the expression of eukaryotic initiation factor-5A2(EIF-5A2) in breast cancer. Methods Immunohistochemistry was used to determine the expression of EIF-5A2 in 69 breast cancer tissues and 6 normal breast tissues. The correlations of EIF-5A2 expression and clinicopathological parameters in breast cancer were then analyzed. Results The positive rates of EIF-5A2 expression in 50 breast cancer tissues was 86%,which was positively correlated with some biological behaviors of breast cancer(TNM stage, lymph node metastasis and HER-2 stage),and was negatively correlated with ER,respectively. In contrast,EIF-5A2 expression was not detected in normal breast tissues. Conclusion EIF-5A2 is highly expressed in breast cancer tissues. The overexpression of EIF-5A2 may play an important role in portal vein encroachment and metastasis of breast cancer.
