Effect of Penetrating Acupuncture plus Rehabilitation Training on Post-stroke Affected Leg Function

Objective To investigate the clinical efficacy of penetrating acupuncture plus rehabilitation training in treating post-stroke metatarsal plantar flexion on the affected side.Methods Eighty-four patients with post-stroke hemiplegia were randomly allocated to treatment and control groups,42 cases each.The treatment group received penetrating acupuncture plus rehabilitation training with ankle dorsiflexion manipulation and the control group,rehabilitation training with ankle dorsiflexion manipulation alone.The Fugl-Meyer motor function scores,Fugl-Meyer balance function scores,activities of daily living scores and lower limb spasm scores were compared between the two groups before and after treatment.Results There were statistically significant pre-/post-treatment differences in the Fugl-Meyer motor function score,Fugl-Meyer balance function score, activities of daily living score and lower limb spasm score in the two groups(P0.01,P0.05).There were statistically significant post-treatment differences in the Fugl-Meyer motor function score,Fugl-Meyer balance function score,activities of daily living score and lower limb spasm score between the treatment and control groups(P0.05).Conclusions Penetrating acupuncture with filiform needles plus rehabilitation training with ankle dorsiflexion manipulation can further improve lower limb motor function in stroke patients.It is a convenient and effective treatment.
