Abstract

Objective To investigate the lo ng-term effect of motoprolol on the patients with chronic heart failure(CHF). Methods Sixty-five CHF patients were divided into the traetment group(45 cases) and the control group(20 cases) randomly. The general therapy was given to the control group.Besides this therapy,motoprolol(6.25~12.5mg) was ad ded to the treatment group. The pedal stress test was performed in the CHF patien ts with NYHA class Ⅱ~Ⅲ prior to and at the end of 2-year treatment. The maxim um motion quantity(Mqmax) and the motion continuance time(MCT) were recorded. Results The rehospitalization rate was 82.76% in the control group and 25.58% in the treatment group(P0.005).The mortality rate was 31.03% in the control group and 9.30% in the treatment group(P 0.025) within 2 years. After 2 years, the heart function(NYHA),Mqmax and MCT i mproved obviously in the treatment group(P0.001,respectively), but did not change significantly in the control group. Conclusion The long-term prognosis can be improved by perindopril in the CHF patients.
