Abstract

Objective To observe the influence of metoprolol on heart function in patients with chronic heart farlure. Methods 67 patients with chronic heart farlure(CHF)were randomly divided into treatment group consisted of 34 CHF patients treated with rountine therapy plus metoprolol(betaloc 6.25~100mg/d).and control group consisted of 33 CHF patients treated with rountine therapy.Echocardiography were performed after a follow-up of a year. Results Ejection fraction(EF)was higher in treatment group than than that of control group(52%±3% VS 45%±2%,P0.01);left ventricular end systolic volume was decreased in treatment group than that of control group(134±50ml VS 142±50ml,P0.01);left ventricular end diastolic volume was decreased in treatment group than that of control group(191±56ml VS 169±40ml,P0.01).re-hospitalization caused by heart dysfunction was significant decreased in treatment group(P0.01).Conclusion The use of metoprolol can improve heart funtion in patients with chronic heart failure.
